In 2009, Aaron Cohen joined the NYU faculty as an adjunct professor in the Media, Culture, and Communication Department.  He joined NYU full-time when he co-founded the MacArthur and Knight foundation-backed GovLab now housed at the NYU School of Engineering.

 Aaron developed his own course that traces the evolution of Internet media from 1990 to the present.  The course pays particular attention to exploring the major epochs of Internet history including the birth of the World Wide Web, the rise of online services, paid search, social, mobile, and the emerging Internet of Things industry.  

Aaron's work at NYU has lead him to more specifically focus on the specific impact of Google on digital life.  He's currently creating new course focused on developed a literacy of Google called Google and Water.  Aaron's classes have attracted many Internet luminaries as guests.  He lectures and speaks frequently on Internet related themes in the private and academic sectors.
